In Barn for Review: Q Acoustics Concept 50 Floorstanding Speakers

Happiness is a quiet cabinet, or so says the UK's Q Acoustics.

Q Acoustics was founded in 2006, and they should be better known for making high quality speakers at very nice prices.

The Concept 50 offer two sets of binding posts and a smile-shaped based mounted with spikes or semi-round footers.

A pair of 5-inch mid/bass drivers and 0.9-inch tweeter are new, ground-up designs specifically for the Concept 30, 50 and 90 loudspeakers. As you can kinda see, these drivers are mounted to a 3mm aluminum front baffle plate which serves two purposes according to Q—dampening vibrations and minimising structural coupling.

The review pair came outfitted in a very nice silver lacquer gloss finish. Black and white lacquer are also available and the optional grill covers, which I intend to leave off, are included.

To my eyes, the Concept 50's curved edges and fine finish makes them look the part of a (much) more expensive speaker. How do they sound? Stay tuned.
