Superior Essex Invests $73 Million in Fiber Optic Cable Manufacturing to Support Broadband Demand

Superior Essex Communications announced a $73 million expansion to its fiber optic cabling manufacturing facility in Brownwood, Texas. The expansion will help meet growing demand for OSP fiber optic cables, drop fiber and hybrid cables.

This investment improves manufacturing equipment, adds 90,000 square feet of manufacturing space and creates 170 new jobs at the facility. The expansion also incorporates green building practices such as power over ethernet lighting and utilizing repurposed equipment. This move will help Superior Essex support broadband buildouts for high-speed internet and 5G service provision nationwide.

"The Brownwood plant improvements are not only an investment in our company, but also an investment in U.S. manufacturing and in communities across America," said Superior Essex Communications President Brad Johnson. "This expansion will create manufacturing jobs right here in America, which will bring more employment opportunities to the Brownwood region and boost production of American-made broadband products."
